Back in May as a Hertfordshire wedding photographer I had the privilege of attending and shooting the wedding of Ellie and Steve in St Albans. The rain of the night before had cleared that morning. While not a sunny day, it was dry and thediffuse light was ideal for photography.
The ceremony took place at Spicer Street Church in St Albans followed by a wonderful reception at the Thistle St Albans Hotel.
Both Ellie and Steve were down to warm earth people. Their wedding was a celebration of music, love and fun.

As usual, presented here are a selection of my favourites from the day.

Instead of “Hello, World!” as my first wedding photography blog post, a short entry about the moment I decided to take the first step to being a St Albans wedding photographer.
I remembered that day as a sultry summer afternoon laden with humidity that presaged a coming thunderstorm. Dappled light of convex ovals falling across the wooden tables and benches of the pub garden. That Sunday, thankfully, it was not full of people; the murmur of conversation a pleasant backdrop. But my attention was wholly on Jill as I listened to her story about her decision to jaunt thousands of miles eastwards to study at one of oldest universities in the world.
That tale about taking a leap into the unknown, to leave behind what is known, to embark on something new against the words of naysayers ignited my desire to take my own first baby steps into that world. Beyond its narration on that memorable afternoon the story has helped me to persevere on a circuitous journey to finding that something that is a semblance of what can be realised in my life.
It is I suppose unfashionable in this day and age to hold people as paragons but as this is my first blog I dedicate the first post to the one I hold in high regard, Jill. She showed me another world I hitherto was blind to, or rather, afraid to travel to and through and, despite, what has happened in the past, remains the radiant light of inspiration.
